For anyone that truly knows me well, you know that August is my LEAST favorite month of the year for a multitude of reasons. It’s always marked with so much tragedy and hardship for the people that I love. On the cusp of Hurricane Ida, and the destruction she left in Louisiana, I pray that September brings better days for us all.
I was blessed with the opportunity to share my thoughts on grief on the Black With No Chaser platform. I hope it opens up some much needed conversation about grief and how Black people deal with it. This article is dedicated to my brother who we lost to gun violence on August 31, 1991. It is also dedicated to the beautiful Ivonne Orozco Thomas who we all loved like our own. Keep saying their names.
